this has been in my tabs forever but ahhhhh that quote is why my headcanon for “how Celeborn gets to Aman” is basically that Treebeard gets tired of listening to Celeborn be melancholy about his wife and daughter and everyone in Valinor and after one particularly sappy round of drunken crying just wanders down to the Sea and floats off to Valinor while Celeborn’s sleeping off the wine

It reminds me of @squirrelwrangler bc she also has a similar headcanon of Ents driftwooding to Valinor which is kind of hilarious and adorable, but the idea of Celeborn drifting on Treebeard is even funnier snwjdfmgttrgmfjfd

Honestly it’s at least part Heget’s fault, I think her driftwood Ents started it and there was something in one of my chats with her about drunk woodelves accidentally ending up in Valinor because they were sleeping off the wine halfway up a couple of Ents?  Haha and then Celeborn “there is no record of when he left for the Grey Havens because he’s too embarrassed to admit his Ent friend just decided all this pining was silly”.  Uinen definitely didn’t invite Galadriel and her family down to their favorite beach for the day and have Osse deliver Treebeard and passenger to said beach for maximum embarrassment/hilarity/happy reunion feels.  

Here’s the post where we established that logically the Ents (especially during and after the War of Wrath) can float themselves to Valinor to unite with Yavanna. And that elves could be hitching rides that way. And now nothing will convince me otherwise that this is Celeborn’s final fate.
