took break from the next hanbok (the quasi-Tifa one to go with the quasi-Aerith)  – using a lot of black pleather and black and red ribbon trim – but then shifted gears to make a micro-miniskirt with the scraps and now trying to make the rest of the canon outfit as best I can – the fabric parts at least. anyone want pics?

Also made wig (well, multiple failed attempts and then one that isn’t good but is useable that I’m calling the crappy Uinen wig

Reimagining Norman Rockwell’s America

amostexcellentblog:

Rockwell, who died 40 years ago on Nov. 8, is among America’s most influential illustrators. And he is experiencing a resurgence this year. The “Four Freedoms” series is touring the United States in celebration of its 75th anniversary. And The Saturday Evening Post, the literary magazine that published Mr. Rockwell’s series and many of his other illustrations, recently announced it was putting its archives online.

But it is the interpretation of the artist’s classic images, perhaps, that has given Mr. Rockwell’s work renewed life. Mr. Thomas is one of a number of artists who have reimagined “Four Freedoms,” most of them spurred by racial and political tension that has divided the country.

Got to see this exhibit recently. It’s fabulous.

Reimagining Norman Rockwell’s America

As promised – the first attempt at jeogori and chima, aka the Aerith Gainsborough Hanbok. And it went surprisingly well. I lucked out that that maroon fabric, while heavier than the very thin satin for the skirt (which I fluffed it out a little so the pictures would be better), has a lot of stretch to it. Ended up using the slightly lighter ribbon for the (false) front tie. The cuffs are silver gray, but look mauvish in the photo. And right now the model is First Re-root Ivy. Goal is to make a brown wig for a proper Aerith eventually.

Almost finished with the second jacket (recycling a wide olive green ribbon for everything but sleeves which the base is that pink satin). But I finished season one of Tutu and it’s late so that’s something for the morning.
