Watching the English dub (I watched subs the first few times)

I adore out outraged the narrator sounds on the last line of the opening narration of the first episode – “said the man who should have been dead”

She’s still Ahiru for me.

God the music is so perfect

Well, a cold front came in, so the weather dropped twenty degrees, it’s raining and cold-ish, I’m pretty sure I have a bladder infection, so heating up some tea and going to take antibiotics. Found a slightly darker pink ribbon, so I’m sitting in front of my tv with the box set dvd of Princess Tutu, because it’s been years since I watched that series, and going to sew some doll clothes and hope I feel better soon.

klapollo:

guy fieri’s flagship show is all about him going to underappreciated family-owned restaurants, praising their work and bringing them nationwide positive attention and business. he openly supports lgbt people like his sister and frequently has gay chefs on his grocery games competition, including ones revolving around relationships and family. he donates all of the non-perishable food from grocery games to food banks and advocates for fighting hunger. he goes to parts of the country where natural disasters have hit and hosts big events where he cooks for and feeds the victims. he has a legitimately funny sense of humor on his shows and is generally said to be a really nice person. he loves his son and has done whole television specials about taking him along on trips having once-in-a-lifetime experiences together. he might look goofy but that man does things that nourish the SOUL and u cant put frosted spikes on THAT

I’ll post pictures soon, but I have free time this week/weekend when not petsitting all the family dogs (my sis is driving down from Austin on Saturday to dump the corgi off for babysitting duty too) – so I pulled out all my fabric scraps, the iron, my patterns (and having to tweak them) and I’m stitching doll clothes. Plus I ordered some more off EBay/Amazon, because that’s how I’ve coped with election results and politics these last two years.

But I can say I have a cute jeogori jacket almost finished (have to finish the snap and find the right shade of ribbon for the tie) and make a pink chima. And together with this maroon with silver ribbon cuffs jacket, it hopefully will read as a hanbok version of Aerith’s outfit. The hanboks have less seams to sew than the kimonos (which I’m still trying to tweak the patterns so I get something that isn’t too frumpy). So I’ll be making several I think. Then playing around with brown and lace and hopefully do a proper faceup.

Started re-reading 1632 again. I’ve read it almost as many times as The Silmarillion by now.

And for a book that’s almost twenty years old- parts of the politics are scary in how much they echo. (Time displaced rural American town with a strong union presence gets dumped into the early years of the Thirty Years War in Europe. The key election conflict in the middle of the book is all about immigration policy and voter enfranchisement.)
