“crown shyness”, doriath

Had to think about this. There could be a good Dior and Nimloth fic with a bit of that King George VI and Queen Elizabeth vibe, in that Dior was the son of Princess Lúthien but it wasn’t like anyone was expecting Thingol to die and the crown of Doriath to pass to him. I’d argue if Dior even knew, as in truly understood, he was royalty during his childhood. Then he’s thrust into this role and Nimloth thrust into the position previously held by an actual goddess.

Alternatively, pun route with Galadriel ‘maiden crowned by radiance’ and we have a comedy about Celeborn quietly trying to court Galadriel in his own way and his friends and family either trying to help or hinder his efforts (and which is which doesn’t match the intentions)

Saw Justice League.

 I liked it. Too many moments felt “Avengers/MCU” in the choices. Whedon, ugh. Elfman’s score was a terrible choice – ruined the Wonder Woman score and the lazy pandering repeating the old scores from the Batman and Superman films of the 80s and beyond, that very retro cartoony style – sometimes incredible blatant copying, was as bad as I feared but I could ignore it. The music almost never added value to my viewing experience but took from it.

Superman…he wasn’t full on Reeves!Retro Supes, but there were times he felt corny, and I had fallen deeply in love with the Clark Kent of the first two films; I didn’t want his character to ‘course-correct to a more “pure original” *eyeroll* Superman’. 

Nostalgia pandering when I wanted newness. 

Flash’s scenes especially with his father were great, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg stole all the awards and everything, Diana was okay, Bruce was Bruce (the WonderBat shit wasn’t overpowering). Amazons’ scenes were killer. Aquaman….it needs to be 18 months later and me in theaters watching Aquaman and Mera and everything else.

Last ending scene was the best thing holy shit.

After work today I am going to go watch Justice League. Fuck the world, I’ve had a rough few days (months). I know it won’t be Man of Steel and I have to remind myself how it took more viewings to go from liking to absolutely loving BvS. But I am owed this.
