Also hey fair warning my followers here just for the Tolkien and especially Silm fic, if you didn’t get an inkling by now, Justice League comes out on Thursday and I’m hyped for it and have been for months. More posts. 

But that doesn’t mean no Silm content! Heck, the last JL trailer inspired me to write Andreth/Aegnor fic (technically twice because I had to write the apology for that angst)

And General Zod’s last villain monologue is just begging for quote use in a Silm fic. Just trying to decide if it’s Sauron, an elf (that second line is so an attack on Finrod omg), a dark AU with one of those human outlaws fighting after his people and land have been destroyed/enslaved… 

Look at this. We could have built a new Krypton in this squalor, but you choose the humans over us. I exist only to protect Krypton. That is the sole purpose for which I was born, and every action I take, no matter how violent or how cruel, is for the greater good of my people. And now, I have no people.  My soul—that is what you have taken from me!

  • arguing the merits of genocide with a ghost – damn the dialogue is so good
  • “don’t leave me”- just everything in those scenes with Jenny, Perry, and Steve. I remember watching this in the theater and just..feels
  • the three plot threads of the battle have to narratively sink to the lowest part until Kal does his parting the Red Sea and stands up to the World Engine
  • “Krypton had its chance”
  • And here comes Faora
  • She is coming for Hardy
  • same, girl
  • (Phantom Zone adventures of Faora and Hardy – like even just a teaser of a rumor of the two of them fighting through Warworld off-screen in a hypothetical Green Lanterns space cop adventure film)
  • the dialogue everyone rags on but Lois’s ‘all downhill from here’ = ‘i’m cynical but with you maybe i can embrace hope’ and Clark’s ‘i’m an alien and i still don’t know what that means in the greater context of how i can interact with others who know my secret and the wider world’s acceptance/will you accept and embrace all of me?

  • Did not understand that there was a hard no-kill rule for Superman and that this so very remorseful but necessary death (seriously, what cheap cop-out did they want?) would be so controversial. It’s a standard story point
  • Lois cradling Clark after that scream of anguish – oh gods ship it
  • is it because the story makes it clear this is a bittersweet victory for Clark?
  • If the character  felt it was more of a win, was not so shaken about Zod’s death, I feel paradoxically the audience would find it as controversial
  • this last flashback scene with Johnathon looking on proudly – my heart~
  • the last scene- clark on his bike, inspired by Lois, puts on the glasses

  • the gravity floating rocks around the fist – like no wonder The Last Jedi copied it
  • zoom zoom around the world
  • then the joy of reaching up
  • the sonic boom as we/he leaves and back to Real Journalist Best Detective Lois Lane

  • Perry believes in aliens? Or wondering if Lois uncovered something else altogether government conspiracy or something dangerous on those lines and wants her to stay safe? just musings
  • Kents know alien world sent Clark. They don’t know his alien world is mostly gone
