There’s no such thing as a painless lesson, they just don’t exist. Sacrifices are necessary. You can’t gain anything without losing something first. Although if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you’ll find that you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle. Yeah… a heart made f u l l m e t a l.
That the one superhero who has, ON SCREEN, IN CANON:
Defended a woman’s bodily autonomy on her terms with no indication of wanting to hit on her
Spoke up for the needs of the poor and disenfranchised
Commented meaningfully on the importance of the press and what they choose to cover
Sees the humanity of criminals and demands they be treated humanely.
Submitted willingly to government demands out of true concern for the fear and well-being of the people
Missed out on opportunities due to a need to save innocents
Spent his childhood reading philosophy to try and figure out the best use of what power he had
Expresses understandable fears and doubts about his actions and seeks outside advice from friends, family, AND even strangers.
Literally gave himself up for a people who immediately turned him over to his enemies
Later gave up his life for those same people
Spends most of his movies desperately worried about the safety/well being of either his personal relations OR the people of the world
Couldn’t stay in one place longer than a few months most of his adult life because he had to save people when something invariably happened
Regularly calls/checks in with his mother
Buys flowers for his girlfriend just BECAUSE
…the one people call ‘cold, unfeeling’ and ‘thinks he’s a god’? Like… how. Why. WHAT BACK ALLEY DIRECT-TO-VIDEO RIP OFF “Super-Man” MOVIE ARE YOU WATCHING because it sure as hell isn’t the DCEU…
People hate that Superman has feelings. He’s not allowed to feel sad or be philosophical or introverted because he’s a boy scout, the american Icon that is full of hope and always smiling. If he’s not happy and smiling all the time, he’s “not my Superman”.
Oh dear… I guess I’m Lawful Neutral with a dash of Chaotic Goood, every once in a while?
Fun fact: during my previous fanfic writing tenure I was Chaotic Evil. All those fics have been officially on hiatus for years, though.
Ivy cosplaying as Kamiya Kaoru. The wig is the second attempt I did a few days after the first wig, and it came out so much better. it doesn’t look great in a ponytail – but I had to! The shortened white kimono top was a quick scrap together and here’s the first attempt at hakama pants. I accidentally grabbed the heavier of that navy blue from my fabric drawer, but since i cut the pieces and knew i never do a god job on the first try, overall it turned out decent and even the pleats aren’t great, hey at least a flatiron on the highest setting at least I had some.
(For a real Kaoru doll using the DCSG, I think I’d use a Supergirl- would have to re-root and repaint eyebrows, but she’d have the one grip hand to hold a bokken)
Also this weekend: finished white knee-socks, almost done with a redo of the top for a red dress, finishing shorts for a pj set and a second nightgown. My carpet is covered in scraps of plain and navy fabric.
