From Justice League #17, the end of the “Throne of Atlantis” Arc, aka how to make someone turn around and pity-adore the antagonist. I’ve included the “I loved you like any brother should” speech and the panel where Orm fights on his brother’s side after relinquishing rule. But it’s the last two pages that pushed this into “Arthur, that’s your dumb baby brother! I love him; how could you?”

Overall Context: Vulko (the onlooker in the third image with the panel voice-over from Arthur about how alone he is) manipulates current king of Atlantis, Orm, into attacking the surface world as a plan to replace him with the elder half-human illegitimate Arthur – a plan that works out perfectly except for all the collateral Atlantean and human civilian causalities and having to also unleash the Trench (creepy fish monster people).

The Heart Wants what It Wants

Worst of all, I can hear my Silm side judging me for daring to get invested in not just in an actual Atlantis but for crying over ‘but look how much this younger half brother earnestly loved his older half-brother and gave up the crown (temporarily) so he could be king and then had to take the job back and then now they’re fighting’ – Bitch, you don’t even like the Noldor or Númenor

Shazam celebrates what Zack Snyder started.

There was something interesting I noticed when watching the Shazam trailer. It’s very Snyder influenced. The color grading is very washed out (other than the suit) and the world that it’s in feels very realistic. This feels like the world Snyder created and just adds a comical touch to it.

We also see several Easter eggs to previous Snyder films including Man of Steel and BVS as well a bit of Justice League. Freddy is a fanboy. He is a DC heroes/ JL fanboy. He loves these people and idolizes them. He is a Snyder fan. I think people who say this is wipin away what Snyder did aren’t paying attention to the details.

Apologies to the vast majority of my followers who follow me for the Tolkien/Silmarillion content and who have to deal with all the DC comics stuff. Just, be happy that my recent stuff has moved from heavily Batfam to the ones involving half-brothers fighting each other while lamenting the a history that might have had mutual respect and affection, returning deposed kings, magic, and Atlantis.
