– Erendis bitterly thought of doing Nienor, but instead went as Morwen. Bëorian pride!
– Ancalimë cosplays Elbereth; go hard or go home.
– Galadriel cosplays Indis, both bc fuck the haters and queen of the Noldor yeahhhh.
– Pharazôn cosplays Morgoth and takes it deadly seriously. Sauron thinks it’s hilarious. They make Míriel cosplay a Vala or Maia, which she thinks is sacrilegious, but when forced she goes as Nienna. The tears are very convincing.
– In Rivendell, Valandil cosplays tiny Elrond or Elros; nobody’s quite sure which one, but it’s adorable.
– Glorfindel cosplays as Glorfindel, complete with a model Balrog around his wrist. Nyahhhhh.
– Celebrían cosplays as Eärwen, mostly to make her mother smile.
– Pretty much everyone expected Celebrimbor to cosplay Fëanor, which lol fuck no, and eventually he went as Beren just to screw with everyone. (Dude might not have created the Silmarils, but at least he got one and lived to snark about it.)
– Elendil went as Thingol. What’s the point in being nearly eight feet tall if you don’t?
– Isildur and Anárion (with a wig) went as Túrin and Tuor, respectively, and avoided each other the whole evening.
hey what the fuck is this new monstrosity of an error message?????
conditions under which i encountered this message: i answered an ask on mobile, then reblogged it on mobile and added two images (from my phone gallery) to the body of the reblog. went back on desktop because i wanted to add it to my #pop tag, which is where popular posts go. link to post (screwed up on my desktop theme sorry)
UPDATE: I CAN NO LONGER EDIT EVEN TEXT POSTS THAT WERE MADE FROM THE APP WHILE ON DESKTOP??
ALSO AFTER RECEIVING THIS ERROR IT WOULD NOT LET ME SCROLL AWAY FROM THE POST UNTIL I REFRESHED
IS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING THIS??? WHAT THE HECK
tested it and got the same problem. this is bullshit, how the hell does this even become an issue
alright so PSA apparently now if you make a post on the tumblr app you can only edit it from the tumblr app.
basically, stop using the tumblr app if you ever want to edit your posts, ever! do you like to edit things? update them? want to correct facts you posted at a later time? want to correct a typo without deleting the post? does typing on a tiny screen hurt, so you would rather edit on desktop later? add tags? delete tags? all of these and more are now not possible on desktop if you make the initial post on the tumblr app for who knows why.
this extremely sucks as someone who is not always able to sit in front of a computer for health reasons, as most of my posts are initially made on mobile and then edited later on desktop. cool thanks! great
Perhaps we courtiers are not unlike you courtesans.
Our lives, like yours, are a constant game of sham.
VLD season 7 spoiler reveal- I liked the trailer for the new season, am excited. The big spoiler about a main character’s relationship history did take a few minutes for me to adjust,
(Shiro had a long-term boyfriend, so i feel this does slide the main het pairing I do ship in VLD into AU territory. Which coupled with my slow fizzle and die of the other pairing I low-key half-shipped back in the first two seasons (the juggernaut one with the worst fans), it does feel funny, because with shows and series, I rarely stop shipping something. Usually I can call the canon relationships out at the beginning of a series, and I’ll support them, or it’s a canon with no endgame pairings, thus nothing to bar my feelings. And the few times when a series did end with my NOTP – Bleach and Avatar being the two examples I can give, that didn’t change my shipping feelings. But at least with VLD, my NOTP is still something I can ignore as just a fan pairing that squicks me out and is still romantically unsupported in canon. And I do like that if any of the main characters was confirmed and shown gay, that it is Shiro and that his love interest is someone we hadn’t met yet. Sh*llura was the only Paladin ship I wanted to see; I’d rather have a strictly friendship/ familial bond between the six (which- the Garrison three have had more scenes together each season, but part of the reason for me dislike of Keith is his lack of any connection either way between him and the majority of the crew. Which is one of the many reasons Keith’s “leadership arc” felt like bullshit when he didn’t show any of those qualities, personality all wrong, and he shows little concern or connection to the other paladins outside of Shiro- who is firmly his mentor-big brother-surrogate father and thus why that pairing as a romantic pairing squicks me out exactly for the same reason shipping Dick Grayson with Tim or especially Damian do- and they show little connect towards him). But it’s personally weird for me, because I tend to be rather consistent and set in my shipping, to have only Hunk/Shay as my remaining ship from the first couple seasons. As for the other ship, which I entertained more out of amusement and because it was nearly inescapable (yes, Kl*nce), the lack of character interactions and introduction of Komelle means another abandon ship for me.
of course, the real problem is deciding what angle to tack if I ever get around to more of that ‘Findis and Heledir write Voltron’ fic.
And it’s a good thing I ignore 99% of the VLD fandom so I can actually watch the show.
Seriously, why are DC fans so hard to please? They never seem to like anything related to DC comic books, even if something turns out to be a little likeable, they still find flaws in it. What’s happening here?
My experience is that they get very attached to one specific version of a character and they demand that any and all other versions of them must be similar to their preferred one. Of course they would prefer that those other versions not exist at all and everyone keep watching the one from their childhood.
I’ve seen it with the Nolan films where they negatively compared them to Tim Burton. I’ve seen it with Zack Snyder’s take on Superman where they kept using Chris Reeve’s films as ammo against them. Now we’re seeing it with Titans where they’re trotting out the animated series.
It doesn’t matter how much time passes or what artistic intentions creators might have or if the newer version is more accurate to the comics. They generally refuse to move past the one they like most and they treat any variations as a personal affront.
Even if the Titans show turns out to be a complete fucking disaster on par with Inhumans, you can bet your ass that I’m going to watch every single episode because I just love these characters and DC so much.
I wasn’t keen on the DCU Titans trailer, and did feel it was over-stressing the R-rating violence and dark imagery – but with so many people bashing it online, my pettiness overrides those misgivings. Plus I feel a lot of my disconnect is from the editing of the trailer itself and that I’m not sold on the actor playing Dick Grayson (his face looks too much like the actor playing CW’s Flash). But it gets leeway from me purely by having a live-action Starfire (and a spoiler article already told me that the costume and wig she’s wearing is a first episode/intro scene only disguise, and she looks awesome anyway). Anyways, this is the equivalent of MCU Netflix series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher, or Luke Cage. DC is also allowed to have shows with that tone. Loving the snarky retorts to people complaining about this Titans by counter-offering Teen Titans Go.
And ironically, that the first glimpses of Grayson’s Robin and the other characters is so dark actually gives me hope- because it all but telegraphs that the character arcs are for them to gain hope, friendship, lightness. And to avoid character redundancy, since the writers are allowing Dick to be the one that says ‘Fuck Batman; and violently rebel against his former mentor/partner in search of independence, that means that Jason’s cameo episode he won’t be just the ‘angry rebellious Robin that gets himself killed’ caricature.
Everyone is getting all worked up about Dick Grayson saying “fuck batman” and killing those guys; calling it identity theft because ‘that’s a jason todd thing’ but here’s the thing:
Dick Grayson is the angry Robin. He has always been the angry Robin. It’s his character flaw. He even said it himself that he had an “uncontrollable temper”. Dick Grayson saying “Fuck Batman” and killing someone is not far off from what he would do. Dick Grayson is the person who will get angry, say and do shit in the moment, and then regret it later.
Jason Todd is not the angry Robin. Jason Todd, arguable, is the cold Robin; the Robin that can get angry. Jason Todd is perceived as angry because of the fact he died and Batman didn’t come to rescue him. Anger is not Jason’s character flaw. Whenever Jason does something, it’s because it was his conscious decision. Jason Todd will kill someone, and that’s out of choice, not of anger. Sure, he’ll be angry and still kill someone, but he is still conscious about his decision to.
When Dick gets angry, he gets blinded by his anger. He doesn’t realize what he says or does until it’s too late, and then regrets it later.
I know some people might be joking about it, but I know there are those who are very serious about their dissing.
Dick Grayson has always been the angry Robin, and Jason Todd has always been the Robin who could get angry.
There’s my take on the whole discourse about the thing.
