Ugh. I need to avoid all post-season interviews and fandom anything related with Voltron, because wow that last interview with the show runners I rather have not read. I was finally coming back around to liking Keith as a character and how he was written after my feelings plummeted down during season 2-4. aka he works SO much more for me treated as a side character and/or only given as much screen time and weight as hunk. The emotional investment isn’t there, on his lonesome i don’t care to watch his plots, there is no way as he is written that i think qualifies him as co-lead, he is definition of character type that rarely appeals to me – Lotor is another, and I think Anakin Skywalker has to be an anomaly in my tastes or some nuance because there’s this range of male characters I tend to loathe or be counted among the few characters I will dislike and/or lack empathy for. They tend to be at least somewhat Byronic or myopic loyal hotheads. Hard to articulate, but on the short list of characters that I actually dislike when I know they aren’t written as hate-sinks where I should intentionally despise them are: Fëanor and all his sons, Sirius Black, Kyo Ren, post Book One Rand al’Thor, and I hate to say it but Keith lingers too close to that list)
