Scarlet, vermilion. :)

[color wheel spin = You have influenced my decision/thoughts on something, You make me feel passionate]

…I really hope that’s not a made you passionately disagree with my opinions, but yeah, anything to spur on fannish feelings! (Safer for me to assume this has something to do with the sporadic outpourings of Valar are Awesome! And the Vanyar even more so! Don’t you dare think them or Ingwë are boring! Also the Lindar! Or it’s my Fuckin’ Fëanor Rants again?) ;p

[spins the color decoder wheel = I trust you,

I’ve been following you for a long time,

You make me laugh,

You have influenced my decision/thoughts on something]

Thank you, m’dear! That I have earned and not lost trust is probably the most meaningful compliment off that list, and there are times were I’m aiming to be funny so yay for success;) am curious what the last one is

Where do you publish your work? Usually first to Tumblr, then AO3 (and sometimes Silmarillion Writer’s Guild)

What medium/application/etc do you write in or with? Google Docs (or just a tumblr post on what i think will be short things/ prompt answers) or Microsoft Word, and sometimes when at work I resort to mechanical pencil and notebook paper/yellow legal pads.

Do you collaborate with others? I’ll bounce ideas off friends in the pre-planning stages, but no.

How much editing do you do before you publish? Depends on the work. Sometimes it’s just a quick re-read before publishing, others I edit constantly as writing and afterwards, a rare few I have a beta go over. And constantly re-reading long after I’ve published to correct and edit and re-work.

Do you listen to music when you write? Most of the time, because I’m usually listening to music while at my computer anyway- either my general Pandora station, whatever song I have on repeat at the time, or a few soundtracks (Journey game soundtrack especially)

How do you decide what to write about? Characters I like, characters or situations that bug me because fandom ignores or presents them in a way that irks me, or lines or tidbits in canon that I wanted more info. Fusions with another story, character, or plot that I also like and therefore the challenge of incorporating into the setting.

When do you write? Any time of day when the mood strikes and I have access to writing tools, though generally in the afternoon going into late evening.

How often do you write? I go through inconstant spurts – there will be days where I’m writing constantly in long hour marathons and then weeks where I barely write anything that isn’t work related.

Do you take requests? I like doing meme prompts, so I have a lot of those. But I don’t get enough feedback for full-on story requests.

Is there any genre or type of story you want to write but are hesitant to? I have a long list of stories I want to get to, and I want to expand on writing full-blown romance (and smut). More fight scenes and political theater. But I wish I wrote more straight up humor, and I feel like that is harder to write successfully than angst.

Any inspirational quotes, videos, tricks, articles, etc. that help you stay motivated? Aha- stay motivated? Eh no. Honestly, I never cared about inspiring quotes from famous people (or having role model inspiration figures). Reviews and feedback helps, and spite and anger for stories and things I dislike. And usually when I’m trying to write one story I get the inspiration to start and finish something else unrelated.

Tagged by @crocordile on the three facts your followers probably don’t know, so let’s do this again!

  1. I too cannot ride a bike.
  2. I have never owned a Playstation, X-box, or Gamecube, or any handheld Gameboys or DSL or what have you.
  3. I’ve never owned a horse myself, but used to lease (yes you can rent horses) one named Lucero when I was in last year of middle school and first few years of high school, where I took lessons at a local stable (English style- Hunter/Jumper). I was a slow learner/not very good, and only competed once in the beginner-most division where there weren’t jumps (though jumping was my favorite and easier thing to do), but I did get first place at least, so my ego is intact 😉

@anghraine tagged me!

When you get this, write three things your followers probably don’t know about you and send to ten followers

  1. It wasn’t until I was about nine or ten that my parents allowed my sisters and I to watch Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network (I do remember that channel pre-PowerPuff Girls and Dexter’s Lab). I missed out on most the 80s and early 90s Saturday morning cartoons. However as a little three and four-year-old I watched solid blocks of PBS – Barney the Dinosaur, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood (which bored me), Sesame Street, and my favorite- Lamb Chop. Then, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago (another fav) and Jeopardy (which played during dinner and I was too young to understand any of the questions obv.). And lots of Full House – which I started watching when we lived in San Francisco, so I always thought I’d eventually find the street/house from the tv show.
  2. In high school I wore headgear to correct my overbite. Only at home/while sleeping, and it was for a year, the type that hooked around the back of my neck, so smallish contraption, but yeah… deep sigh
  3. I’ve never dyed my hair.

blue

“His mother named him after a vision she had while pregnant, saying she saw him full-grown and garbed in brown and green, lying on a riverbank and watching a blue and amber kingfisher skim the water.”

From the Beren’s Band of the Red Hand fic I’m writing – Unfortunate #2 (Heledir). Though I might swap him out with Ethir (#5)- thematically the captain of the rangers works better for angst if he has watched more than just one of his rangers eaten by wolves.

Miriel

Assuming you mean the Broideress –

Míriel didn’t want to be Queen and did not really sit down and think of what marrying the King of the Noldor would entail on her time and plans and pursuits (and if she did, like my favorite or maybe second favorite AU, she would have turned down Finwë’s proposal). She loves the adulation of people, the praise, but because she likes the recognition of her passion and work. She devotes herself to perfection and greatness in her chosen craft and let no one suggest the Noldor aren’t competitive and her in particular – though her greatest rival is herself. She doesn’t want to loose valuable precious time that could be spent doing what she loves on that which she hates or finding boring if necessary. Very set ideas of what is good taste and good art and what isn’t. If Nerdanel and her actually interacted instead of this vague connection via the same loved ones and circle of similar but not same interests, they would have disliked each other. Míriel finds Nerdanel’s more abstract and experimental pieces a waste of talent. And Míriel doesn’t hide her scorn of lesser pursuits and talents and the sheer boredem she has in dealing with courtiers or Noldor whose creative and scholarly pursuits aren’t to her interests or tastes, though she doesn’t go how of her way to be obvious about it. Clearly go into very lengthy (and quickly worded and enunciated) speeches about her opinions, because she is also canonically very proud of her voice and how quick and clear and long she can talk. And this very quickly begins to annoy certain people among the Noldor (nothing like being told you don’t speak right and stop inventing new words and sounds and if was good enough for me it’s good enough for you) and because it’s also canon that Míriel refuses to go back on something if she’s said it because she’s to proud to change her mind or seem anything but self-doubtful or inconsistent or not right – Míriel baiting becomes a hobby for the town wits. oh, they feel horribly ashamed of it, all contrite, but ever so easy to target with words, stubborn and contrary. Her grandsons inherit the same flaw, so watching them twist around statements of ‘of course I knew that’s what that word meant, i was just testing you’. The problem of the giant and yet fragile ego.

Also, Míriel with silver hair is awful and I soundly reject it. Silver hair nets and silver clothing if we must have the ham-fisted symbolism, but silver hair is a trait of Thingol’s kin/the Sindar and that’s a fucking hell no on blood relations.

Oh, and while in the Halls of Vairë and Mandos, turns out her and Daeron are soulmates. 😉
