WIP of the Tifa Lockhart cosplay for a DCSHG. The red gloves were a fiddly thing to make – but they are removeable. I still have to make the suspenders/belt and black socks. The shoes are wrong (I have a few tennis shoes but no duplicates that I can customize – though looking at the molds, I think Bumblebee’s would work best). And the final details on the arms.

Still, I’m proud of the results so far.

squirrelwrangler:

took break from the next hanbok (the quasi-Tifa one to go with the quasi-Aerith)  – using a lot of black pleather and black and red ribbon trim – but then shifted gears to make a micro-miniskirt with the scraps and now trying to make the rest of the canon outfit as best I can – the fabric parts at least. anyone want pics?

Also made wig (well, multiple failed attempts and then one that isn’t good but is useable that I’m calling the crappy Uinen wig

too late- need to go to sleep- but! I finished one of the red gauntlet/gloves- and actually made it removeable. And the black sleeve-glove bit that goes with it. Tomorrow it’s finish the other side’s two glove/sleeve, make the elbow pad, black socks, belt, and attach suspenders. I don’t have the right shoes or can customize them- but have a pair that’s at least red tennis shoes. Now the real problem is my only black-haired dolls are the Wonder Woman- which the skintone and eyes are wrong. But at least my Diana is shaping up to have a great cosplay. Okay, the real question is do I make padding for the t-shirt.

Finished the shiny silver harem pants and even finagled a pair of panties (weirdly one of the harder things to make for dolls this size) tights need a redo of the pattern.

Switched to new project – white frilly top – need more basics like those for the skirts and dresses

doll sewing project news- yes i’ll take photos soon. the yellow-cream shirt turned out even better than I hoped, made matching bloomers, and even a short dress in a similar style, then a brown leather clincher belt- just a plain one, but going to repeat it and add some gears/cogs charms to make a steampunk version. Using the blue lining fabric of the plaid coat, the pleated skirt turned out okay, the hakama pants everything but the belt looks decent. Still working on painting the spare pair of boots a more coordinately brown, trying to make a full outfit/look. Then I spent a few weeks on and off making a kimono with the blue and red soft cotton plaid, lining portions with a white – it looks really cute but then the fit is terrible, so I’m upset and disappointed. In my disappointment, finally started a project i’d been planning to do for a while- had a very shiny silver satin fabric (frays something awful) so am making a ‘harem’ top and pants as an alternative outfit possibly sleepwear for Koriand’r. Especially with some green beads for ascent, has that zeerust space princess vibe.

The eventual goal is to have a pyjama or nightgown for everyone, then the rest of the categories

Project update: coat is nearly finished with only the ribbon trim and the front closures left. I added Starfire with her custom outfit for reference – this is the style of coat. Lining was a pain; going to use that blue for a matching skirt I think though. Have several tiny metal gears to add accents and make this coat a steampunk one – think that’s the route I’ll go instead of brass stars. Either way it’s a Wonder Woman coat. I tried a slightly different pattern idea for the hood and it’s a tad too small/back slit too high- overcompensated for Kori’s hood.

Sorry I know I should be finishing up the next OII chapter (and I’ve been binge-watching even remotely relevant Time Team episodes for inspiration and research) but I found this plaid in the bargain bin scraps and so I’m making another coat for my dolls (I know the plaid doesn’t line up in the front but I had to cut out the left panel twice and at least it’s straight)

Tired and busy but I’ll have time this weekend, and I started a new doll reroot. Bought one of the newest WW dolls (missing the Themyscira and kicking myself still), so with four of them I felt I could finally justify rerooting one with brown hair for a psuedo Jessica Cruz. Haven’t decided if to re-paint the eyes brown or green. Unfortunately only realized when out of packaging that the Hero-of-the-Month doesn’t have the extra articulation point at the bust, so debating which of the other Dianas with get a headswap (and which Diana will officially be relabeled my Donna)

This weekend I’ll try to finally take pictures of them for y’all.

What i should be sewing for my Starfire doll, using the pale purple cotton fabric:  an approximation of her original outfit or at least a bikini set

What I am working on: sleeveless glittery princess knee-length dress, sleeveless hooded overcoat with green ruffled ribbon trim, high-waist tiered ruffle skirt, a simple Regency gown.
