Gearing myself up to do a detailed illustration of the step-by-step fashion timeline for elves, starting with the beginning of clothing in Cuiviénen and how to progress to Tudor-esque/Baroque fashions in Valinor (without the garment slashing) and the late Renaissance with a stop-over at Joseon-era hanboks for Beleriand, complete with notes on fabric (linen, wool, hide for both sides, cotton in Valinor, silk in Doriath) and how they combine and then at the start of the Second Age a call for simplicity and the influence of the ‘new’ styles means Valinor changes to something Empire/Regency. Trying to decide which method would be easier to do the thumbnail sketches…

I am so tempted to do those aesthetic graphic posts, or request one, for so many characters, starting with the Minyar/Ravennë/Young Bucks of Cuiviénen. And various characters from Rose Red. But never made those and too much gathering of stock photos and time and yet….
Hopefully I can channel this sudden spurt of writing for the silly time-waster original story back into finishing some Silm fic.
Hypocritical I know, usually I have the opposite problem.
Maybe I should stop lying to myself and admit I’m a writer of angst
Tomorrow from about 5:00 PM until sometime late Saturday I will be out-f-town, either driving, flying, or at shows in Penn or New Jersey. I will have some limited internet access – also I’ll try to get selfies of the various outfits and take pics while at Morris and Essex of all the people in vintage clothing with their dogs next to all the old automobiles. Tonight, however, I’m free to chat, or memes, requests, whatever.
Next week I’m flying (with ma’ma and the same family friend and dogs as the Milano trip) to New Jersey and Pennsylvania for the Morris and Essex Show (dog show once every 5 years, high end vintage clothing and cars and nice lunches). Gonna have the pick from my wardrobe some fun nice stuff – everyone tells me I dress vintage-ish enough as it is – but this does give me the excuse to go shopping for all the cloche hats I wish I owned (it’s one of the few styles I think works for me).
JFAC that AU story is officially my most liked story on AO3.
Was it that humorous, or just liked having an Andreth/Aegnor story where they got together, or having everyone angst and worry over LaCE/Athrabeth issues? It wasn’t my best writing efforts, not actively. I’m not upset, really; it’s great to get lots of kudos. But this one?

Today in Unexpected Reader Reactions – I posted the final version of that off-the-cuff write-up of the AU where Aegnor and Andreth marry and have a kid, where I balance LaCE and Athrabeth canon with Angrod snarking. And it’s popular? It hasn’t been up for twelve hours and already more hits than I’d expect for two-three days and more kudos than three-fourths of my other stories. o.O I’m not complaining; I’m grateful, just a little blown back by the response. It’s canon divergent and it’s humor (maybe not fully crack, but my tone throughout is flippant with a few side swerves into angst and drama). Humor is the hardest thing to write. Is it because it’s Aegnor/Andreth, and thus a popular but fic-starved pairing? (I’m guessing here, have no idea if this holds true).
Bleurgh. Stalling on my writing. I know I had a scene in my head right before I fell asleep last night, that it was something that naturally had to be and there was no way I’d forget it – so of course I can’t even remember if it was something for Angband or one of the Cuiviénen stories. I know it was something besides the Salmar+tides idea.
Now I’m trying to pick which stars and constellations to name drop and it has to be one I can fake my way into a Proto-Quenya version of the name and make sense for the time of year… (what time of year is this fic set? It shouldn’t matter but now I’m afraid to make it matter)
Between the PE dictionary and looking up each constellation…crud.
Jupiter (Alcarinquë) might work. Alkara-inkwa (-ikwa? typo?)
